Buddy read

This week i embarked on something very different. A buddy read. If you have never done one, dont fret, in all honesty i hadn't even heard of one before two months ago.  A buddy read, almost like a book club but varies in a few key aspects.

1. it tends to be smaller groups as compared with a book club

2. You read a few chapters everday as opposed to reading the whole book.

3. As you read the designated chapters you and the other people in your buddy read talk about how you feel, characters you enjoy and which part of the storyline you find intriguing.

I have never attemped a buddy read before because i am a reader who finds it hard to put a book down after a few chapters, especially when it hits a really juicy part. But i am actually really enjoying this. I love being able to share my ideas with someone and i really like that we can talk about where we think the book is going from here, possible storylines and the characters we like.

At first i was hesitant to incorporate such open dialogue with others in my reading, because i have always viewed it as a solitary task, but i would highly recommend anyone to give a buddy read a go. It is fun and it really give you and your buddy read partner a chance to explore themes and ideas more in depth as you are reading as opposed to when the book is finished.
