Blunt force - book review

Blunt force felt as its title stated - blunt. The sixth book in the Tenninson series. I was so excited to read this book, i was completely drawn in by the storyline. As i started to read the first few pages, i was midly entertained - was i enthralled and completely enveloped by the storyline... i'm sad to say no. in fact i put this book down 7 times, that right SEVEN times and it nearly went into my DNF pile. The plot line was sooooooo drawn out, to the point where it seemed the author was trying to create filler plot holes so the book hit a certain amount of pages. It felt forced. the dialogue slow and the mystery and intrigue werent there.

In Blunt force, Detective Tenninson investigates a murder of a prominent agent, only to find that his seemingly squeaky clean life is not what it seemed. As the investigation uncovers more and more suspects we delve deeper and deeper into social and religious issues.
Full tea - guys this book turned really heavy in the last 100 pages and could be triggers for some. It was also only the last 100 pages that the book picked up really quick and i have to be honest i was extremely disappointed in how it finished. There was also way too many 'fluff' characters in my opinion who were treated as main characters and the character who committed the murder was treated as a fluff character. It was strange.

But on a serious note - this book broached some really deep issues about family pride, honour and making sure that it says intact for religious reason. A young woman who is presumed to have had dishonour brought on her family because of being sexually assaulted by shady doings of the murdered victim. I was hoping even if it be a corny ending for Detective Jane to locate her, whether dead or alive but to really finish the storyline as it deserved. Yet the book ended talking about police corruption (Even extending into a forenote about the real police team assigned to the corruption within the police force). This was a giant let down for me, as much as this was an important aspect and story to tell, it really took away from the thoughts and ideas underpinning the storyline.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
