Just Business - Debut romance novel by Mayra De Gracia

 Hey my selfconfessed book eaters,

Its been a long time since my last post, in part, because i have realllyyy been enjoying some time off. My creative juices have become droplets and my magical river of imagination has become a stagnant pond. But hopefully with some much needed time off, i can now say i am coming back with a waterfall full of ideas and inspiration.

Today i want to shine the spotlight on a new indie author. As you know, i love supporting Indie authors. Like honestly, it brings a tear to my eye with how much work, sacrifice, and effort they put into their work and their books deserve to be shouted from the roof top. Mayra De Gracia is a new Indie author i have had the pleasure of meeting. She is a new independent contemporary author from Panama city, Panama. A woman of many hats, Mayra has just finished, edited and self -published her debut romance novel 'JUST BUSINESS'. This talented young author originally published her book in Spanish (June 2020) and had it translated into English (November 2020), all while still being a full time University Student.

So lets get into the meat and bones of this book.

JUST BUSINESS is a romantic comedy set in four different main cities and a love story worth reading. It follows the story of Samantha `Sam´ Richards, a twenty-six year old who's got the shot of her life becoming the youngest editor in chief at New Words Publishing House. The PH is owned by the Hecox Family and is part of a conglomerate of companies - this one being their first.
The novel also follows Brandon Hecox, the owner's son and a musician, who happens to be Sam's ex boyfriend from college. One day, they inform Sam that the publishing house is about to go bankrupt and both her and Brandon come up with a plan to save the company as it means the world to them. They go on this amazing trip to London, Rome and Paris and go on super fun adventures while documenting it all and finding their way back to each other.

It's a story that makes the main characters evaluate their emotions, focus on what's important in life and see life from a hopeful perspective.

Here's the synopsis:
Sam feels like she's on top of the world. Has always known what she wants, organized every little detail and controlled every aspect of her life.
She has the job of her dreams at New Worlds Publishing House, a private office with views of all of Manhattan and the life in the Big Apple that everyone desires. You could say she's living her dream life.
Brandon is a natural dreamer just like Sam, the only difference is that he hasn't been as lucky in this aspect. Yes, he's a millionaire, the most handsome bachelor from the Upper East Side, and heir to the Hecox Companies empire. However, he's a frustrated musician who hasn't had a chance to shine.
When they meet, their lives change completely and the games of destiny play in their favor. But, all of this changes four years later when they discover that the publisher is going to be closed. So they'll have to work together to create a plan to save the company that means so much to both of them.
A plan that will lead them to venture on a trip to different cities and to find their love story again. Unfulfilled promises, a web show, gastronomy, a lot of music and two dreamers who will have to understand that love is their only business.
'Just Business' is a funny, emotional and inspirational novel. A romantic comedy that will make you laugh, fall in love with its characters, travel without leaving home and realize that all dreams are possible.

Here's the Goodreads page of the English edition which is merged with the Spanish one. It only has almost 20 reviews in Spanish (even though more people have read it) because not a lot of people use Goodreads here. It doesn't have any English reviews either. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55880940-just-business
