Rivers of London - Book review

Let me start off by saying the premise of this book is phenomenal. But the execution was something i really struggled with.

Reading this book (and i honestly have not had this issue before) i had times where i literally could not understand what was going on. I had to re read 100 pages twice to understand. I felt really inadequate reading with this book to the point where i felt dumb because i could not understand it. At the same time i felt this book was slow to get to the point and very drawn out.
I also felt there was a lot of waffling i mean a lot, like things were explained to the point where if you glazed over it - it would still make sense. This book could have been shortened by a good 80-100 pages and still have been a perfect storyline.
Rivers of London follows Peter Grant, who is a supernatural detective on the London police force. Peter and his mentor Nightingale are investigating a runaway ghost who is callously murdering innocent people, only they find the ghost in question is murdering people as a revenge plot for being murdered himself some 200 years ago.
But trying to find a ghost who inhabits his victims bodies is no easy feat, but with the ghost hunting dog Toby to help, Peter and Nightingale are fighting against the clock as more bodies keep dropping and chaos is slowly descending.
This book is told in 1st person from the eyes of Peter Grant who is still figuring out how to use his super natural powers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
